Hire Web Developers
Many organisations do not need a React specialist or a database engineer. They need one capable person who can change the website, update the CMS, fix the contact form that stopped sending, and move the whole thing to a new host without losing email. That generalist is what we mean by a web developer.
You deal with that person directly. They work in your hosting account, your CMS and your repository, and everything they make stays there. We employ them, supply their equipment and arrange cover when they are away.

What a web developer looks after
A website is several systems pretending to be one. These are the parts that most often need attention.
Building and rebuilding sites
Company sites, catalogues and booking sites on a CMS or a framework, from templates to launch. Content models are agreed with the people who will edit the pages, not decided for them.
CMS upkeep
Core, theme and plugin updates tested on a staging copy first, with a backup taken and a way back if something breaks. Abandoned plugins are replaced before they become a security problem.
Moving host or domain
Migrating files and database, lowering the DNS time-to-live beforehand, issuing TLS certificates, and adding 301 redirects for every old URL so that search positions and bookmarks survive.
Forms and email delivery
Enquiry forms that reach an inbox: authenticated SMTP, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, spam protection that does not block real customers, and a saved copy of every submission.
Speed and search basics
Image compression and sizing, caching, a CDN in front, fewer third-party scripts. Correct titles, canonical tags, structured data and a sitemap. This is technical groundwork; we do not promise rankings.
Clean-up after a compromise
Finding how the attacker got in, removing injected files and rogue admin users, restoring from a known good backup, rotating every password and key, then closing the hole.

How senior your web developer should be
Ask what would happen if the site went down on a Friday evening. The answer tells you which level you need.
Junior
Edits templates and styles, adds pages and forms, applies routine updates on staging, and follows a written checklist for releases. Escalates anything involving DNS or the database.
Choose when: the site is stable and a more senior person is available for the risky parts.
Mid-level
Builds a site from design to launch, writes custom plugins or modules, carries out a host migration and sets up backups and monitoring. Explains technical choices without jargon.
Choose when: you want one person to own the website day to day.
Senior
Handles what has no checklist: a hacked site, a database that will not import, a server that slows under load, several sites sharing one account. Decides what to rebuild and what to leave.
Choose when: the site earns revenue, has a complicated history, or nobody knows how it is put together.
From enquiry to the first change on your site
Tell us what you have
The address of the site, what it runs on, where it is hosted and what you want changed. If you do not know the technical details, the address alone lets us find most of them.
We put a name forward
One developer, with a profile, available for a call with you. You may decline and ask for another.
Start small
A first task with clear edges, such as fixing the form, speeding up one template or setting up staging. You see the result before agreeing to more.
A predictable routine
Requests go through your ticketing tool or a shared board. You get a summary every week and one invoice each month.

Is a dedicated web developer what you need?
We are a good choice when
- Your website changes every week and nobody in the company can make the changes.
- You have several sites and want one person who knows all of them.
- Your previous developer has gone and the site needs an owner.
- You are a marketing or design agency that needs builds done under your name.
Look elsewhere when
- You want a site-builder template with your logo on it. You can do that yourself in an afternoon.
- You need deep specialist work in one framework. Hire that specialist; we list those roles separately.
- You need someone in the office.
- You want search rankings promised. No honest developer can do that.
Before you hire a web developer
We only have the admin login, not the hosting details. Can you still work?
We can start with content and theme changes. For updates, backups and anything involving the server, hosting access is needed. We can help you recover it from the registrar or host, since the account should be in your company name in any case.
Will the site go offline during a migration?
The aim is that it does not. The new copy is built and tested on a temporary address while the old one stays live, and DNS is switched once it has been verified. Email records are checked separately, because they are the part most often forgotten.
Do you work with page builders?
Yes, where one is already in place. For new builds we prefer templates in code, since they load faster and do not tie the site to a plugin licence. The choice is yours.
How are updates handled without breaking things?
On a staging copy first, one group at a time, with a backup before and a visual check after. Only then on the live site, at a quiet hour agreed with you.
Who owns the site and the accounts?
You do. Domains, hosting and third-party services are registered in your name, and code is kept in your repository. The agreement states this along with confidentiality.
What if the developer is away or leaves?
Cover is arranged by us. For a permanent change we propose a replacement and you approve them. Notes on how the site is put together are kept with the code so the handover is short.
Send us the address of your site
Add a line or two on what is wrong with it or what you would like it to do. If you know the CMS and the host, include them. We reply within one business day.
